There is a growing community of eyes watching the progression of LENR. From former U.S. Vice-Presidents to the richest man on the world, the anomalies discovered by Martin Fleischmann and Stanley Pons over 25 years ago, are on the radar at the highest levels. BlackRock Inc. A 2012 investment report by the world’s largest asset manager, mentioned that they were following LENR and fusion start-ups. Al Gore, former U.S. Vice President. Mr. Gore references LENR and thorium in an online Google+ conversation in 2013.
Bill Gates, founder of Microsoft Corporation. In 2014, Bill Gates visited the laboratories of ENEA in Frascati, Italy, where he was briefed on ENEA’s research activity, including in the field of LENR.
Steven Chu, former U.S. Secretary of Energy. Dr. Steven Chu, a Nobel Prize-winning physicist and former cabinet member under President Obama, meets with Robert Godes, founder of Brillouin Energy, a leader in LENR experimentation, in an undated photo.
Allen Brooks posted an interesting compendium on the transformation of our energy production and referenced the disruptive potential of LENR.

“LENR is tainted with the cold fusion hoax, but over the years, a small, yet growing band of scientists and researchers around the globe have continued to push the investigation into proving up the science. Top universities around the world are involved in the research along with work sponsored by leading global corporations.
More research needs to be done, but momentum behind LENR appears to be growing. Why? Clearly, LENR is a disruptive technology. As was suggested to us in our conversation with our scientist contact, imagine if you could have a small unit in your garage that could produce electricity to power your house and automobile with a material source that cost $10 and lasted for six months while producing no dangerous waste. Would that revolutionize the power business? Certainly. Could small LENR units be built to power vehicles? Maybe. When will we know? Not for a while, and maybe never. If it works, we are likely talking about a decade-long development period. While that appears a long time, imagine you were at Drake’s well in Pennsylvania in 1859 when whale oil was still the preferred lighting fuel. Would you have embraced oil? We urge readers to pay attention to LENR’s development as it may signal the next energy transformation.”
Press Release from Ecat Australia and Ecat South Asia – August 2013 TOMORROWS ENERGY, TODAY
Since we last wrote, there continues to be important developments. The rest of the world is waking up that L.E.N.R. is serious. A recent Forbes article emphasized the maturing of the technology.
And OilPrice.com journalist Brian Westenhaus thinks the industry may have reached the turning point and perhaps the last stages before widespread acceptance. This is further supported by an influx of universities in the US and afield that are now including LENR or Cold Fusion studies in their syllabus.
The 18th International Conference on Cold Fusion (ICCF-18) held last month also provided substantial details of the technology along with deepening understanding of the physics behind it. In practice no-one is yet able to match the COP that Rossi has attained: COP=6, but we hope that all parties do succeed because there is much need for more efficient and environmentally friendly energy sources.
Our focus has continued to be on working with interested parties, discussing their needs and recommending solutions. The following diagram shows the wide applicability of the Rossi E-Cat and Hot-Cat.
Many companies around the globe and in this region are starting to focus on co- and tri- generation, the situation where one heat source is used over and over again. To this end the actual effective COP can be much higher than 6, if one can re-use the heat. A typical co-generation use could be using the initial heat for a food manufacturing process, and the waste heat for a chilling/refrigeration process.
Consider a typical Co-Generation opportunity: Fruit and Veges industry.
Primary Application: Blanching. For this, typically they would be using grid electricity, or Gas. With the E-Cat they would enjoy a COP of 6 (i.e. for every unit of energy previously used, now they can consume just 1/6th of that energy, reducing their bill proportionately). Once used the energy they have consumed is typically wasted.
Secondary Application: By coupling the blanching process and its waste heat, to a chiller system, the company can convert this waste heat into chilling, allowing operation of cold rooms for holding vegetables, at almost no additional energy cost. Assuming a 70% efficiency on this leg, the company might be able to get an additional 50% re-use of the energy (allowing for inefficiencies).
Now the company may also consider that there is a third use for the same energy – output from the Chiller is hot water (approximately 50-70 degrees C). This is ideal for general use in bathrooms and kitchens for washing and cleaning.
Notice from the example table above, that there is substantial improvement of the facility’s energy use. Using the E-Cat, the company may be able to achieve upwards of 10 times the value of the input energy. (note this is a generalized example. Engineers will be able to estimate specific applications which depend on environmental conditions and other factors). E-Cat Australia and South Asia is working with manufacturers and distributors of allied equipment to assist our clients get additional benefit when they implement an E-Cat or Hot-Cat.

The single biggest hurdle to the acceptance of LENR fka Cold Fusion is control of the reaction. There is little doubt in the learned scientific community that the anomalous and excess heat generated by the unidentified reaction is real. This has been proven thousands of times in the past two decades.
Much to the dismay of the pioneering Stanley Pons and Martin Fleischmann (whom took this to his grave), the lack of control destroyed their careers and gave Cold Fusion a permanent black eye. Early experiments show that excess heat is somehow released by the absorption of deuterium in a palladium lattice, but their crude experiments were not controllable and virtually impossible to reproduce by others. Their work was dismayed as pseudoscience and all but killed further funding for research.
Twenty plus years later, the entrepreneurs now seem to have the upper hand. While the research dollars disappeared, experiments continued quietly in small labs across the globe. There are a handful of companies actively working to bring a LENR device to market. Again, control is the key issue if one believes Rossi, Brillouin, Blacklight and Defkalion all have devices which produce excess heat. Brillouin Energy Corporation seems especially in tune with the issue. Its founder, Robert Godes, has been working for many years to solve the control issue. His innovations apparently allows Brillouin a controlled and predictable output and a working theory they call a Controlled Electron Capture Reaction. Their theory and stability has generated millions of dollars in funding and a relationship with the Standford Research Institute.
Further developments in control will spur more funding and more research. As the phenomenon is more fully understood, a solid reproducible reaction will be available to everyone.
Michael McKubre was asked to speak specifically on what will move this forward. He says two things necessary to move this science forward are, a need, and an independently-minded nation.
Who fits the bill? Italy.
“Italy is performing very well in this area,” says McKubre. “The next conference will be held in Venice, a rich city. Why is Venice a rich city? It is the industrial center of the region and it’s on the backs of industry that this field will move forward.”
The Columbia Daily Tribune, the hometown newspaper of the University of Missouri features an article by Karin Spory on the the upcoming International Conference on Cold Fusion (ICCF-18) which will take place at the University starting on July 21, 2013.
“The fact that we’re seeing something here that we don’t understand — I see it as a huge opportunity for basic physics research to try to understand why we don’t understand it,” said Robert Duncan, vice chancellor of research at MU and co-chairman of the upcoming conference.
Duncan said the conference has grown as a result of people continuing to work to explain the mysterious form of excess heat. He said although the conference will feature companies looking to make reactors that will produce energy from the basic understanding of LENR, for now MU’s researchers will continue to investigate just how this energy forms.
Rumors swirl around Defkalion Green Technologies to stream a live demo from Milan, Italy on July 22 during the conference. ICCF-18 Home
A little motivation never hurts. For those suffering in the quagmire of LENR research, Peter Gluck of the Ego Out blog offers some insight and scientific analysis.
Among these latest developments is the mastery of optical meta-surfaces that comprise a class of optical Meta-materials with a reduced dimensionality that is exhibiting exceptional abilities for controlling the flow and manipulation of heat and electrons at the nano-level. These new capabilities achieve the anomalously large photonic density of quantum mechanical states that underlie the industrial LENR process.
